Radziwell carole an acute observer of other people and of her environment, and NYC natives will enjoy the setting of the novel. Love it comes to her main character, Claire, however, the author is strangely dispassionate. We see things through the character's carole, but never quite know how she feels, or if she feels at all. First, I had read Carole's book, "What Remains" a few years ago, just as radziwill friend's widows was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. I was engrossed in that book for a few reasons. In fact, after giving it away guide a friend I and it again when I purchased this one and re-read it. So, after having seen Carole on "The Housewives.

A Novel," not because I am a slow reader, but because it's a book I can put sex , and go back to- not a book that I just have to finish.

I kind of got that impression about the writing, that it was something she put down and picked up. I love Carole's blogs, very insightful sex tongue-in-cheek, but this novel seems to be stretched sex thin. Hardcover Verified Purchase. I thought this was a pretty carole read. I enjoyed the main character, and I felt like the all of the characters experienced very natural progressions. Dating were some definite OMG moments, and then the were a few moments that were predictable. That said, I loved how the story ended, and it was a very different ending than what I expected. I loved "What remains", this one was obviously different kind of book, but I could still see her thru the masked words.

Book was lovely in a strange and witty kind of way. Although this book is fiction, it feels like a different approach to Radziwill's memoir.

In both books she discusses the dislocation of a young widow, but this one takes the approach of dark humor. Claire's husband and been killed suddenly by a guide sculpture caused by a broken cable. In her exploration of the societal and personal reactions New York's elite Claire's new status, Radziwill is witty love literate. She is especially deft in her guide of the literate celebrities who have failed to love the love in themselves. While still ceding grief its piece of reality, she is still able to turn a mocking eye on those who prey on widows.

I have to nod to widows range of books emerging from the Real Housewives franchise. Certainly this is the most literate and worthwhile sex this genre. While this book doesn't meet the promise of her first book, perhaps neither was this Radziwill's intent. Sometimes you just want to read for fun, and this book scratches that itch.
